HINL ZIP LEVEL INSPECTION
A zip level is used to measure the foundation and note the different elevations at each corner of the home. This tool assures that you know exactly where the foundation has moved and by how much. This is the same tool that international inspectors and engineers use to provide foundation reports.
The foundation is the most important aspect of determining the longevity of a structure. When a foundation moves excessively it can affect many aspects of the home. Such movement can cause the structural integrity of the home to become compromised. It can also create plumbing leaks, doors, and windows that don’t open and close properly, as well as visible gaps between doors, windows, cabinets, and other components. All foundations have some degree of movement. When the movement is within an acceptable range, it is just considered a “settlement”. But when the foundation has excessive movement it can be a red flag!
